Thanksgiving means something different to all of us, but most will enjoy a brief respite from work or school and a large meal served on a foundation of turkey and mashed potatoes that’s accented by an array of sides. A turkey dinner can act as a blank canvas to some Thanksgiving artists and it gives restaurant kitchen chefs a chance to showcase some holiday flare. Household kitchens will surely be cooking this year, but not all of us want to fight rabid shoppers for Costco parking spaces just to sweat it out all day in front of a stove.

For those looking for a dining alternative that will keep the spirit of Thanksgiving out of the kitchen this year, we’ve put together a list of local South Bay restaurants that will be serving up turkey dinners.
Kincaid’s: Located on the Redondo Beach Pier, Kincaid’s makes for an elegant Thanksgiving day meal with a seafood influence. Their traditional turkey dinner is priced at $32 and includes slow roasted turkey, chicken apple sausage stuffing, mashed Yukon potatoes, chef’s vegetables, fresh cranberry relish and turkey gravy. Other entrees for purchase like Char-Grilled Filet Mignon, Prime Rib, Grilled Tomahawk Pork Chop will also be on the menu. Pumpkin Cheesecake and an Bourbon Caramel Pecan Tart round out the holiday menu. Probably not the most cost effective option for a large family, but can be a scenic way to impress out of town guests. BALEENkitchen: BALEENkitchen is located at The Portofino Hotel and Marina and this serves up a three-course traditional Turkey meal, $65 for adults ($25 wine pairing option) and $25 for kids 12 and under. The three-course menu offers choices like Roasted Butternut Squash Bisque, Herb Roasted Turkey Breast, Szechuan-Style Braised Crispy Pork Belly, Pumpkin Cheesecake, and an Apple Tart. Buca di Beppo Don’t forget about the large, party portion serving Italian style restaurant near the corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Palos Verdes Blvd., Bucca di Peppo. Add an Italian twist to Thanksgiving dinner this year, and a cannolis too. Their family style turkey feast includes: sliced white meat turkey, homestyle gravy, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, spicy Italian sausage stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. Scotty’s on the Strand: Kick it old school at Scotty’s on the Strand for Thanksgiving, fantastic views of Hermosa Beach complement a traditional and affordable turkey day meal. Pre-game your palate by cruising the strand on your beach cruiser or drive a car, parking usually isn’t an issue in Downtown Hermosa Beach on Thanksgiving. Scotty’s is located, like the name says, on the Strand in Hermosa Beach about fifty feet south of Hermosa Beach Pier. www.scottysonthestrand.com
The Kettle: The Kettle in Manhattan Beach not only serves food all night, but will start serving its traditional Thanksgiving meal early in the morning at 10:00 a.m. Their Turkey day menu includes white or dark meat turkey, maple mashed yams, buttermilk whipped potatoes, cranberry sauce, crispy brussels sprouts, corn bread stuffing, soup or salad and choice of pumpkin or pecan pie for only $27.95. Turkey meal for the kiddos also available, $12.50 per little one. The Kettle does not take reservations and all their regular menu will also be available, it is first come first serve. Tin Roof Bistro Enjoy a three course Thanksgiving feast with all of the trimmings at $55 per person, $25 wine pairing option available. Main holiday course includes Diestel Roasted Turkey Breast with Turkey Confit, Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Candied Yams and Green Beans. Seating will begin at 10:30 a.m. Make a reservation before 1:00 p.m. and TRB will treat your party to a round of Mimosa’s and a $25 gift card towards your next visit. Fleming’s Add a some luxury to your turkey day meal and reserve a table at Fleming’s Steakhouse & Wine Bar in El Segundo. Three course menu for the adult in your family cost $52. Fill your belly with a Petite Filet Mignon or Herb Roasted Turkey Breast and a Gooey-Butter, Chocolate Cake for dessert. Three item children’s menu available for kids 12 and under, $22. Jackson’s Food + Drink Eat, drink, and be thankful at Jackson’s Food + Drink this Thanksgiving with an elegant and reasonably priced traditional turkey dinner, $36.95 for adults and $18.95 for kids 12 and under. The menu includes roasted turkey (white & dark), Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Brown Sugar Yams, House-Baked Pumpkin Pie and more. Playa Provisions in Playa del Rey will offer a Thanksgiving dinner special priced at $38 per person and $20 per child. Starting with an entrée choice of either Turkey or Honey Mustard Crusted Ham, guests will have a variety of sides to add to their dinner including Chicory Salad, Roasted Acorn Squash, and cranberry sauce, among others. Assorted desserts include Pumpkin Pie or Cran-Apple Pie. A children’s menu will also be offered, including a similar entrée choice and sides of mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, and a scoop of ice cream from Small Batch. Terranea Resort presents a Thanksgiving Ballroom Buffet. Nosh on a festive buffet, cider station and dessert bar then celebrate with a glass of Champagne. Cost is $105 per adult and $47 for children ages 5 to 10, kids 4 and under are complimentary.
