Known locally as the “Gundo”, it’s almost more of a state of mind than an unincorporated town, but that’s where you find this weekend’s perfect family event. In fact, there will be generations of families attending the El Segundo Hometown Fair & Carnival this Saturday May 7th from 10am to 3pm because small-town family life is the driving force behind the charm of anything happening in El Segundo. Don’t bring your GPS, just remember the following address: Library Park, 600 Main Street, El Segundo, directly across from El Segundo High School.
Like in years past, the fair is accented by traditional activities like snacking on fair food, watching toddlers perform dance routines, game booths, participate in a bake-off, listen to some live music, and a carnival ride or two. If you have time, stop by El Segundo’s Historic Richmond Street and mosey into Richmond Bar & Grill. It’s a no fuss all thrills, cash only bar that serves hard to find craft beers, hot dog sandwiches, and homemade potato chips.
This year at the fair, the city along with sponsor Electric BikesLA will giveaway an electric bike with a street value of $2,295. Stop by the George E Gordon Rec Club House in El Segundo before May 6th to get your Hometown Fair wristbands and raffle tickets for the brand new electric bike; pre-sale deals available so Call (310) 524-2362 for more information. www.elsegundo.org
