No Snow This Year for Spyder’s Hermosa Beach Snow Fest

Forecast for this year’s Hermosa Beach Snow Fest includes mild daytime temperatures with a slight chance of drizzle and not a flurry in sight, at least until 2013. Pier Avenue in Hermosa Beach will not morph into a slope-style, snowboard park with boxes, rails, and cars for what would have been its 3rd annual Snow Fest. To bring snow anywhere near the South Bay and create a credible snowboard event with a contest, good vibes, and kung-fu maneuvers is a mammoth effort. This year sponsorship for Snow Fest came up short on the landing but plans for next year are already on the horizon. According to an article in last week’s Easy Reader, Spyder felt that the timeline and lack of sponsorship from some of the bigger vendors made 2012’s event an impossible feat. Snow Fest has the making of a classic South Bay holiday tradition so hopefully sponsors and like-minded folk come together in 2013 and continue to make it snow.
