No snow in the forecast for this year for Spyder’s Hermosa Beach Snow Fest but the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce will host its Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony this Thursday, December 6th at 6 PM on the Hermosa Beach Pier. Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus will make an appearance for some gift consultation and the official lighting of the Hermosa Beach Holiday Tree will surely help kick off the holiday season in Hermosa Beach.

Surprisingly, fast food sushi is not an American invention but a Japanese concept used to offset the high cost of Japanese labor and strategically lower sushi prices so the middle class can dine out on Saturday night. Sound familiar? Conveyor belt sushi became popular in 1950s Japan and was heavily automated, actual robots helped put together the rice that accompanies sushi pieces. All the sushi chef had to do was cut the fish. Today, conveyor belt sushi has a modern hold in Japan and has begun to enter international markets in a profitable manner.
