Event Description
The 5th Annual San Pedro International Film Festival proudly welcomes an evening with incendiary guitarist Wayne Kramer and wife Margaret Saadi Kramer as they discuss not only the MC5, and music for film, but especially their charity Jail Guitar Doors (co-founded w/legendary UK troubadour Billy Bragg). JGD finds people who work in prisons — including San Pedro’s infamous Terminal Island Prison — and provides them instruments for rehabilitation. The Kramers also talk about juggling work and family life. This intimate night concludes with a musical performance, and is hosted by veteran music critic Steve Hochman of KPCC. Co-presented by Girl Rock Ltd.
Wayne and Margaret will talk about the state of music, in their respective industries – Wayne as a working musician and Margaret as owner of the music publishing company, PostHaste Music, and international distributor for composers Brand X, who pioneered the genre of music in feature film trailers. Together Wayne and Margaret work tirelessly on Jail Guitar Doors, the concerts, the fundraising, the conscious raising, and providing music instruments, hope and inspiration to inmates in 70 prisons nationwide.
