Naja’s Place 6th Annual IPA Festival Starts Wednesday

If you have been by Naja”s Place in the last couple days, you might have noticed a less than robust tap list than normal as the folks behind the bar are prepping and cleaning their tap lines for what is now Naja”s sixth IPA Festival that starts this Wednesday at 2:00pm. It is a week long event that caters to the most effervescent beer seasoning around, hops. Their IPA Fest is serious business amongst beer geeks and for good reason. All types of IPAs (India Pale Ale) and DPAs (think IPA on steroids) will be on draft, the world’s finest hoppy brews are selected for this event and you’ll surely find a crowd of hop-heads impersonating Cliff Clavin on the origins of life & fermentation.

Usually not the most well organized beer event as only featured hop-forward beers are available all week for a premium price but most kegs are tapped for special release or even new releases like Smog City Brewery”s Death by Hops (9.3% ABV). According to the flyer at the bar, hoppy beers from the likes of El Segundo Brewing, Russian River, Bear Republic, Golden Road, The Strand, Ballast Point and many more will pour at this year”s IPA Festival. Like in years past, there will most likely be some special cask beers too. Cask beer or ale is usually less carbonated and can have a stronger taste and smell since it is unfiltered (unlike kegged beer).

The Festival runs one whole week starting Wednesday June 25th at 2:00pm, so pace yourself, hydrate, and don’t hesitate to make multiple trips. All you need is a sturdy beach cruiser and an elbow that bends. Souvenir glasses will be available. Naja”s Place is located at 150 N. International Boardwalk in Redondo Beach.
