TEDxLMU 360 Event Learns from Every Angle this Saturday

TEDxLoyolaMarymountU will take place on May 2, 2015 at Loyola Marymount University from 10:00am to ­3:30pm. The independently organized event, licensed by TED, will feature local, national and international voices and TED Talks videos under the theme of 360°: Learning from Every Angle. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including TEDxLoyolaMarymountU, are self-­organized events that bring the community together to share a TED­like experience. The event is called TEDxLoyolaMarymountU, where x = independently organized TED event.

Some of the best talks from TEDx events have gone on to be featured on TED.com and garnered millions of views from audiences across the globe. At our TEDxLoyolaMarymountU event, Angelenos come together in a free exchange of education related ideas worth spreading, inspired to future action that will enhance our communities.

Tickets are $45 per person and available online through Eventbrite. TEDxLoyolaMarymountU will take place inside Murphy Hall on the campus of Loyola Marymount University located at 1 LMU Drive in Los Angeles Saturday (May 2nd) from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Speakers at TEDxLoyolaMarymountU include:

Nolan Bushnell – With his latest startup, BrainRush, the father of Atari and
videogaming, is intent on fixing education with software that uses gamification
principles to “addict” students to learning

Jesse Chen – A technology strategist with a vision for a “new power” democratic
infrastructure, Chen will challenge leaders of organizations, communities and
governments to more authentically represent their constituents.

Chiqeeta Jameson – Co­Founder of the Dangerous Boobs Tour, Jameson is
determined to change the standard of breast health care, delivering a passionate,
medically­based TEDxTalk, “If You’re Dense, You Need to be Smart.”

Margaret Martin, DrPH, MPH­ Illuminating student brain development, Dr. Martin
discuss the transformative effects of music education for underprivileged children.

Carol A. Wells­ Founder and Executive Director of Center for the Study of Political
Graphics, Wells will focus on the power of graphics to combat public apathy and
feelings of helplessness, opening up a truly democratic arena for political debate.

Bodo Hoenen­ With his latest project, EdTech innovator, Hoenen will illustrate how
we can leverage the natural teaching moments of communities to digitally teach any
child, just about anything, no matter where they are born.

Shea Emry­ Emry’s talk will inspire a rewilding of the culture of masculinity, one that
accepts a more whole and complete human. No part, tear, feeling or grunt left out.

Billionaire P.A.­ Self­made entrepreneur, Billionaire, seeks to inspire billions of people
to speak life into their dreams and maintains his title as “P.A.”, or “Production
Assistant”, to remind people “A job title does not justify your success; so be careful
how you treat people.”

Laura Marquis­ Launching “the first No Refined­Sugar Dessert Cookbook” this fall,
Laura will expose her journey as a sugar addict, what it really means to be healthy, &
examine why, despite modern medicine, disease & obesity rates continue to rise.

Leo Flowers ­A comedic powerhouse and masterful storyteller, Leo will serve as host
of TEDxLoyolaMarymountU:360°

Mandela Schumacher­Hodge ­Director of Education Entrepreneurs at UP Global,
Mandela will discuss the power of education to transcend individual lives and advance
society’s development.

Joseph Bailey ­ As an Edison Scholar at the US Patent and Trademark office, Dr.
Bailey knows a bit about creativity and innovation. At the University of Maryland, he
led a cutting edge, multi­disciplinary consulting program called QUEST and will
discuss how he creative an environment that recognized and capitalized on students’
inner creativity and genius.
