Holiday Craft Beer Events in the South Bay

Tis the season for some holiday cheer and near by craft beer events, bottle releases and sudsy promos that celebrate the good tidings across South Bay breweries and their thirsty patrons. The holidays in general can be a weird dance caught between conspicuous consumption and the intent to giveback, but one thing is commonplace during this time of year, beer and or wine is a liquid remedy for holiday stress and will be an active ingredient at most holiday parties. Once you have finished shopping and leave that long line with gift receipts and all, there is is a tasty malted or hopped beverage waiting for you when all the chores are done. With that in mind, we have put together a list of local craft beer events that may help you carry on through the rest of December.

This Saturday December 20th from noon to 8:00 p.m. Smog City releases their limited wild collection beer, Saison Contraire. Saison means season in French and the majority of Saison ales are usually light in body and moderate in alcohol. Most are bottle conditioned — that is, more yeast is added before the cap goes on, allowing them to ferment a bit more in the bottle and giving them a champagne-like style. This too could be a great gift for the beer geek in your family. Smog City Brewery is feeling the holiday spirit, now through the end of January, some of their signature brews like award winning Coffee Porter and Sabre-Toothed Squirrel (American amber ale) bottles will be $1 off and all growler fills will be $2 off. Smog City Brewery is located at 1901 Del Amo Boulevard #B in Torrance. (310) 320-7664
