Strange and weird phenomena tend to happen around this time of year, witches ride broomsticks high in the sky, pumpkins race downhill for prizes, houses become haunted and zombies learn to surf. Not the hippest hobby for most flesh-eaters, but the cool camaraderie of rolling swells and bone-crunching cutbacks have been known to quell the inner demons of many nightcrawlers. Back from the primordial sludge of the sea comes the Scare and Tear Costume Surf Contest this Saturday November 1st featuring a monster showdown between groms, creatures, longboarders, SUP folk, and anyone else who dare sign up. All participants must wear a disgustingly ghoulish costume and surf their brains out.
One of the original surf costume contests is back from the dead with the help of Spyder Surfboards and Shaggo Skateboards at Manhattan Beach Pier this Saturday with a deadly start time of 7:00 a.m. Cost is $30 to enter, sign-up online or at Spyder Surf Shop located at 2461 Pacific Coast Highway, Hermosa Beach.
