South Bay Weekend: Floating Man, Funkomatics, Game of Skate, Sunday Beach House, Handmade, Songwriter Series, & Elvis Tribute

Torrance is rich in skateboarding history and has been a backdrop for all types of classic skateboard magazine spreads, down from the 1970s all the way to the 21st century. The last time Vanguard Skate & Surf Shop hosted a skateboard contest all the South Bay surf shops showed up for some industry fun that was politely dubbed Battle of the Shops(2012). This Sunday Vanguard brings the youthful current of South Bay skateboarding to its parking lot turned skateboard arena called Game of Skate. Skaters can expect to flex their kung-fu manevers atop rails, boxes, a pyramid, and a mini-ramp (very, very small half-pipe). Anybody who signs up for Game of Skate will be allowed to purchase anything inside Vanguard’s shop at a 20% discount. The contest is free.

Game of Skate goes down this Sunday July 27th and sign-ups are ONLY available in the shop. Putting your signature on a waiver is a MUST, only skaters that sign the waiver will be allowed to carve up the mini ramp. There are only 30 spots available. Game of Skate will take place at Vanguard Surf & Skate parking lot, located at 5205 Pacific Coast Hwy. in Torrance. For more information call the shop at 310-373-2501.
