Possibly one of the last, honest portrayals of the mayhem that surrounded British Beatlemania in the 1960s comes from the perspective of Freda Kelly, a Liverpool secretary who worked for 11 years in the office of the lads who would become the Fab Four. The documentary film Good Ol’ Freda is the story of a 17 year-old Kelly who went to work for Ringo, John, Paul, and George during the Beatles’s ascension into musical lore as cultural icons. Kelly herself is still a fan of the four but in true British humility has remained a faithful patron of the Beatles’s legacy and never once profited from the success of the Beatles. According to the Huffington Post, she works as a secretary to this very day.
Good Ol’ Freda plays this Sunday at the Warner Grand Theater in San Pedro’s Downtown District. The film starts at 7:00p.m. and tickets can be purchased online via Grand Vision Foundation’s website. Warner Grand Theater is located at 434 W. 6th St. in San Pedro.
