The largest Japanese food market in the United States, Mitsuwa Marketplace, begins their annual Japanese Gourmet Food Fair today at all California locations, including the gigantic location on Western Avenue in Torrance. The food fair runs throughout the weekend and will feature all types of Japanese cuisine like fresh soba noodles, savory manju, crab sushi, seafood bento boxes, and sweet desserts like doriyaki. A Japanese sweet treat, doriyaki looks something like a rolled up pancake (sometimes flat too) with custards, creams, matcha, or red bean paste filling in the middle. Ramen fans should take note, as Kenji Chiba of the famed KAMOME-SHOKUDO shop in Yokohama will be dishing out some savory chicken bone broth “Ushio” style ramen. Go ahead and flood your senses with some umami this weekend and visit the land of the rising food court… and food fair in Torrance. Mitsuwa Marketplace is located at 21515 S. Western Avenue.
