Mix America’s new national holiday, the Super Bowl, with a 10K run and a costume contest and the result is a full and comprehensive Sunday Funday. The 35th Annual Super Bowl 10K/5k Walk/Run Costume Contest presented by the folks at King Harbor Association puts a celebratory spin on some annual competition. Creativity is encouraged for this event and will be rewarded. That’s right, a costume contest before Sunday’s Redondo Beach 10k/5k walk or run event is looking for the best dressed in various categories. Last year contestants won prizes for the following: Best Individual (male & female), Best Six Pack, Best Centipede, and Best Group. Dig deep, find a fake mustache, a beer wench outfit, or some homemade Star Wars gear to round out your winning stride.
Costume contest judging should take place around 7:00 AM at the Seaside Lagoon located at 200 Portofino Way, Redondo Beach just before the start of the 5k race. For more information about this event, visit King Harbor Association’s facebook page.
