The relief effort of Hurricane Sandy naturally speaks to the hearts of South Bay folk, coastal identity and access to beautiful public beaches & piers are fundamental touchstones that drive community togetherness and environmental appreciation. Events that aim to provide aid to residents of New York and New Jersey have already begun in the South Bay. Tonight, Barsha Wines & Spirits will host a Hurricane Sandy Fundraiser that includes some wine tasting, food, raffle prizes, and music. 50% of the proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross.
Down in Hermosa Beach at a venue called Studio (formerly The Shore) a fundraiser appropriately named “South Bay Sandy” goes live all weekend. South Bay for Sandy is a charity event happening at Studio in Hermosa Beach. Both this Friday and Saturday night, Studio will be donating 100% of its door charges straight to the Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund. They are asking for the help from everyone in the South Bay to assist in helping out some people who are in serious need. They will be taking donations at the door. You are not required to donate any certain amount. No donation is too big or small. Every dollar helps.
