One of the better craft beer selections in the South Bay resides just south of Hermosa Pier at Hot’s Kitchen with an average of 40 handles to pour from and styles like Belgian IPAs, English bitters, pilsners, ambers, stouts, and witbiers to name a few. Their small plate, taco to the tenth degree menu is also one of the reason to visit Hot’s. Pork, beef, chicken, “ocean”, and exotic style tacos come in all shapes and creative tastes. Hot’s has been running a series of brewery dinners and next week, June 26th, they will pair food with brew from a small, boutique brewery in Salt Lake City called Epic Brewing Co. Utah is known for some arcane liquor laws like the fact that all draft beer in Utah cannot exceed 4% alcohol by volume, so kudos to Epic Brewing for making it happening in Salt Lake City. The Epic Brewing Dinner costs $55 per person and will feature six courses paired with beers like Epic’s Straight Up Saison and their Hopulent Mosaic I.P.A. Visit South Bay Event’s website to find out more about this craft beer dinner.
Take a look at 1321 Downtown Taproom Bistro’s drat beer selection and it’s easy to see that this Old Town Torrance brewpub is doing its best to showcase local craft beer from the South Bay. Currently, their handles consist of brews from The Dudes’s Brewing, Monkish, El Segundo Brewing Co., and Smog City Brewery. On Monday nights all local beers are $3 and Friday & Saturday night’s happy hour starts at 9:30p.m. with $2 off all beer pours from the tap. It’s also one of the only late night happy hours in the South Bay to offer a Dark & Stormy. Next Wednesday, June 26th, 1321 Downtown Taproom pairs a five course meal with beers from Strand Brewing Co. The cost is $50 per person which does not include tax or gratuity.
