The widely-popular, twice-yearly program presented by the L.A. Tourism and Convention Board returns for its first plating this year and features delicious, specially priced prix fixe menus for lunch and/or dinner. A wide variety of restaurants throughout Los Angeles are participating in dineLA Week and some happen to inhabit the South Bay culinary landscape. With lunch menus ranging from $15 to $25 and dinner menus ranging from $30 to $50, you are sure to get great value at low risk. A new charitable option this year gives one dollar for every seated reservation booked through dineLA’s website to Midnight Mission, a local nonprofit that helps the homeless.
DineLA week presents a bi-annual platform that lasts 14 days (1/18 – 1/31) where restaurants get a chance to introduce themselves to new faces or perhaps re-engage a customer base that needs a special reason to come back.
This week could be a chance to try new South Bay spots that opened their kitchens in 2015. Family run Bettolino Kitchen in Redondo Beach will cook up prix fixe lunch & dinner menus showcasing their focus on freshly made pastas like Tagliatelle alla Luciana with homemade tagliatelle pasta (long, flat pasta), stewed octopus & Santa Lucia tomato sauce and Mezzeluna Affumicata, a dish made with broccoli & ricotta stuffed ravioli and smoked panchetta in a white wine sauce.
Creator of MB Post and Fishing with Dynamite, Chef David LeFevre’s newest Manhattan Beach dining adventure, The Arthur J Steakhouse, is part of dineLA’s Exclusive Series which features menus starting at $95. A hefty price to pay? Absolutely, but debonair steakhouse dinners tend to be costly and Chef Leferve has a stellar track record. Here are some choice selections: shrimp cocktail with cucumber and dill; beef sirloin tartare; Swedish meatballs; chilled Alaskan king crab; the pork porterhouse or 16-ounce rib eye; toppings like shaved black truffles or seared foie gras; and sides including creamed spinach, roasted carrots with harissa yogurt, or the dreamy sharp cheddar mac and cheese.
