The holidays can bring all types of stresses and joys; they can be a gift or a burden. Keeping a level perspective during shopping episodes, company parties, and an up-tick in calorie consumption is important as 2013 comes to a close. To ease the hunt for a decent parking spot in the South Bay, Redondo Beach and Manhattan Beach cities have approved what appears to be a holiday tradition by offering free parking in specific locations. Free and accessible parking will surely encourage beach city folk to shop locally and that’s no doubt the objective here. It’s more of a financial decoration, parking meters covered with bags, but will be a welcome ploy to balance the craziness of the holidays in the South Bay.
In Downtown Manhattan Beach parking meters will be bagged through December 27th but all parking spaces will have a time-limit restriction according to an article in Patch. Motorists will receive a parking violation if they exceed time limit which will most likely be about two hours.
Parking meters at The Riviera Village in Redondo Beach, as well as meters along South Catalina Avenue & Pearl Street, will be bagged all the way through January 1st, 2014 according to the Daily Breeze. Holiday parking at the Redondo Beach Pier and Pier Plaza will be free of charge daily from 8:00a.m. to 8:00p.m. until December 30th, normal parking rates will apply outside of those times.
