Hermosa Beach’s Ragin’ Cajun Makes a Return to Pier Avenue

One of Hermosa Beach’s long loved creole style food joints is coming back to Pier Avenue in May after a brief hiatus spent tooling around in the Twitter driven food truck business according to their facebook page. In 2011 Stephen Domingue, owner and operator of Ragin’ Cajun, was unable to renew his lease with his Pier Avenue address so he took to the streets and rode the food truck wave by creating Ragin’ Cajun on Wheels. In a sense, the mobile version of Ragin’ Cajun was able to reach new mouths in new markets by using the open road en route to locales like Diamond Bar, Pomona, & Orange County. Combo up some tasty Bayou Bowls like Chicken, Sausage, & Corn Bisque with a couple distinct locations and there’s no limit to what 146 characters (see Twitter) can do for a food truck that’s already had some local success.

The return of Ragin’ Cajun will land in a spot blocks from its original location at 425 Pier Avenue and operate under a conditional use permit which will allow Ragin’ Cajun to sell beer & wine as noted in a recent article by the Daily Breeze. Domingue hopes to open his gumbolaya haven some time in May but no solid opening date has been announced yet. There will be a “Pop-Up” event at Suzy’s Bar & Grill Saturday, April 20th starting at 5:00 p.m. Rajin’ Cajun will be serving up dishes like Blackened Ribeye, Cajun Catfish, and big ol’ bowls of Bisque and Gumbolaya. Live music from Lisa Haley and the Zydecats will add a little flavor to the event. Find out more about this event on its facebook page.
