Beach volleyball in the South Bay is serious business; it underpins the ebb and flow of summertime recreation for the athletically minded weekend warrior and the well heeled, seasoned pro. This weekend the volleyball courts just north of the Hermosa Beach Pier will be jammed pack with all types of pros and juniors looking to make a career out of a sport that was born on the sand just a bit north in Manhattan Beach. According to their website, the mission of NVL is to create a sustainable future for pro beach volleyball in the U.S.

“We always look forward to our Hermosa Beach tournament because of the tremendous support we get from the community,” said NVL Founder and CEO Albert Hannemann. “The fan turnout is incredible and we’re excited to bring them a full weekend of events, live music, player meet and greets and more. Many of our players have trained and competed on these beaches for years and feel at home here in Hermosa.”

Men’s Finals match will take place on Sunday around 3:25 p.m. and the Women’s Finals should start earlier around 2:15p.m. For a complete guide to match times visit the official site of the NVL, the “soul of beach volleyball.”
