Pre-Game Thanksgiving Eve Events in the South Bay

The South Bay tends to thin out during the Thanksgiving holiday as folks head out of town to celebrate a turkey feast with their family and friends. In general, there is a relative calmness around the beach cities as all of a sudden parking spaces are routinely available in Downtown Hermosa Beach & Manhattan Beach, traffic along Pacific Coast Highway seems less congested, and the majority of people out partying at local watering holes probably claim a beach cities zip code since at least middle school. Partying on Thanksgiving Eve is slowly becoming the biggest “non-holiday” event of the year and why not, most will have at least 2-3 days of recovery time before going back to work or school. Even the person who rarely goes out may find it hard to miss out on the true hallmarks of Thanksgiving, a good buzz and a seasonal hangover.

Below are some pre-game Thanksgiving Eve events that will happen around the South Bay Wednesday night:

Fortunate Youth’s Third Annual Turkey Jam: This Wednesday night around 9:00p.m. at Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach, True Press, Reeform, and Roots of Mine perform live at the 3rd Annual Turkey Jam. Fortunate Youth will turn Saint Rocke into a reggae party this Wednesday night with their traditional roots reggae style, keyboard accents, and high energy. This is an annual event, and every year it gets crazier than the last. Cost is $15 – $20 and the show starts around 9:00p.m. Visit Saint Rocke’s website to find out more about this year’s Turkey Jam.

The Dudes’ Brewery at Naja’s Place: Wednesday night starting at 6:00p.m. is The Dudes’ Brewing “keep the glass night” at Naja’s located on Redondo Pier’s International Boardwalk. Naja’s will have all The Dudes’ beers on tap.

Pre Thanksgiving Eve Appreciation Party at Ocean Bar: A big, annual Pre-Thanksgiving Bash at Ocean Bar this Wednesday night at 9pm. There will be DJ’s upstairs and downstairs featuring performances by the Rock-It Scientists, Quasar and Awsumo. RSVP is recommended to avoid the rush, visit Ocean Bar’s facebook page to learn more.

A night at Old Tony’s on the Pier: Rejoice in merriment top-side at Old Tony’s fish-bowl bar and relax with some live music. Parking is always abundant at the Redondo Pier and bars-stools & tables should be open for the taking this time of year. Request a song and sip on a Fire Chief cocktail, the high-octane signature drink at Old Tony’s.

Hennessey’s Redondo Beach: It’s definitely a local’s night this Wednesday at Hennessey’s Redondo Beach, they’re inviting high school alums from all over the beach cities, South High, Mira Costa, & Peninsula High. It’s a bit of a reunion as the night is colorfully called “It’s a bragging rights Re-Union.”

1st Annual “Hey Turkey Day” Event: A sampling of local artists will showcase their work at Ego Fine Arts Gallery this Wednesday night at the first ever Hey Turkey Day event. In an effort to reflect on what Hermosa used to be, at least to some, a more laid back, beach vibe, ocean-side hamlet, the Hey Turkey Day exhibition will feature art portraying Hermosa in a simpler light. Drinks will be provided by the Dudes’ Brewery and Weeman’s Chronic Taco will serve up some protein. Visit Hey Turkey Day’s facebook page to learn more about this event.
