The first San Pedro Shred: Festival of Skate happened right around this time last year on the curvy black-top where Gaffey St. meets 36th St. It’s back again this Saturday in full tail-slide position with more sponsors, skateboarders, and what hopes to be a bigger audience the second time around. Billed as the only sanctioned skateboarding event in the greater Los Angeles area, San Pedro Shred is a mixed bag of old school and new school with all types of skateboard styles dropping in like street skateboarding, downhill, and park.
Expect to see asphalt barrels, long banked turns, speed-wobbles, aerial maneuvers, and a miniramp all under the umbrella of a safe and controlled environment. The general stoke of riding a skateboard will be on full display this Saturday June 14, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm in San Pedro at the Gaffey St. Lookout Point (between 32nd St. and Paseo Del Mar) for the second annual San Pedro Shred: Festival of Skate. Food trucks, live music, raffles, and vendor booths will be located at the top of the Gaffey St. Lookout Point.
