Tucked in a Torrance neighborhood is one of the most spectacular display of Christmas lights in the South Bay. It’s a neighborhood tradition where folks can walk or drive through to get in the holiday spirit. Sleepy Hollow Christmas Lights Extravaganza is located on Roberts Rd. off Pacific Cost Highway. SHCLE is on display from 6-10 p.m. every night until the evening of New Year’s Day. Walking offers a much more relaxed, up-close view of all the displays, without worrying about holding up the cars behind you.
Skip the traffic by parking on Pacific Coast Highway, Calle Mayor or Prospect, and walk to Roberts Road, just west of Calle Mayor. If you want to take photos, a walking tour is a must. There is always a diverse array of themes on display from military, Christian, Jewish, Spongebob, Chicago Cubs, etc. so you’re bound to find something you like.
Some of the houses will be selling hot chocolate, coffee, or churros as you walk through the neighborhood and it’s a good idea to purchase a hot beverage or snack as SCHLE is a 100% community driven event. Also, the crowds are deep the week before and after Christmas, so if you plan to go this week or next, anticipate large crowds and try not leave any trash behind.
One of the largest displays of Christmas lights in the country, it’s perfect for families or a good date idea.
