The feeling only compounds itself when America’s Independence falls on the first step of a three-day weekend.

One of the most glorious holidays of the year is coming to the South Bay – the Fourth of July! People come from all over Southern California to experience the year´s best holiday in our quintessential South Bay beach towns. Whether you want to spend it by a BBQ at a friend´s house, checking out the bar scene or taking part in the legendary Ironman Triathlon, the options are plentiful in the Beach Cities. 2014 Summer of Music Free Concerts on the Pier Presented by the Redondo Pier Association: Thursday, July 10, 2014 – Saturday, July 12, 2014 – 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. This summer, the biggest free concert series in the South Bay returns to Redondo Beach Pier with music from an eclectic lineup of emerging, local, national and international touring bands. Every Thursday and Saturday evening, the Redondo Beach Pier will be filled with sounds of Blues, Reggae, Rock, Rockabilly, Salsa or Swing music. Food and beverages are available for purchase at the pier. This Thursday come on down to the Redondo Pier and watch The Bar Starz perform live from 6pm to 8pm. Independence Day – Ports O’ Fun Weekend Celebration at Battleship IOWA: Friday, July 04, 2014 – Sunday, July 06, 2014 – 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM Climb aboard and tour the battleship. Grab a bite at of some All-American BBQ. Check out the vintage military vehicles on display. Get your face painted or try and conquer the challenging obstacle course. During 4th of July Weekend Battleship Iowa will host a three-day Celebration, Friday through Sunday, from 10am to 4pm. More Info

Redondo Beach Fireworks: 8th Annual Independence Day Party at Seaside Lagoon: Friday, July 04, 2014 – 2:00 PM – 9:30 PM Seating at the water’s edge inside Redondo Beach’s King Harbor is a site to see, just 300 yards away from the fireworks staging barge and it’s just one of the event’s unique features at the 8th Annual Independence Day Party at Seaside Lagoon. This 4th of July stop by BALEENkitchen to celebrate America’s independence with some live music, gourmet BBQ, and libations.
