South Bay Weekend: The Festival, Roller Derby, Synchronicity, TAM, Brighton Beach Memoirs

This weekend, together with one of the newest South Bay breweries in the making Brouwerij West, in the semi-truck off-loading ramp at the Port of Los Angeles, The Shelton Brothers host The Festival, a beer fest with top breweries from all around the globe. A pretty generic name for an international gathering of breweries, The Festival sounds like a government funded gathering of the United Nations of beer. Over 14 countries will pour at The Festival and beer nerds should have a blast pontificating about the ancient origins of beer, trade-winds and the best definition of an India Pale Ale. Not only will the beers be there to sample, the brewers themselves will be at the fest pouring their beers. Read more about this massive two-day, four sessions beer festival on our website.

Torrance Theatre Company present: BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS: Saturday, November 08, 2014 – Sunday, December 14, 2014 Here is part one of Neil Simon’s autobiographical trilogy: a portrait of the writer as a young teen in 1937 living with his family in a crowded, lower middle-class Brooklyn walk-up. Eugene Jerome, standing in for the author, is the narrator and central character. Dreaming of baseball and girls, Eugene must cope with the mundane existence of his family life in Brooklyn: formidable mother, overworked father, and his worldly older brother Stanley. Throw into the mix his widowed Aunt Blanche, her two young (but rapidly aging) daughters and you have a recipe for hilarity, served up Simon-style. more info
