South Bay Weekend: Halloween Carnival, Pet Parade, Riviera Village Trick or Treat, South Bay Scream, Samhain Ball, Dia de los Muertos Festival & More

This time of year we tend to see tons of Halloween events pass trough our URL, so it will probably shock you to death to see a cadaver sized list of ghoulish happenings for our weekend post below. If you just awoke from the dead or have been living in a coffin for the last couple weeks, just an FYI, Halloween is this Saturday. There is always a mixed bag of nocturnal events set to terrorize the South Bay when Halloween comes to town and this weekend looks horribly spooky with adult sized Halloween parties and special events for trick or treaters. Back from the Dead, Scare & Tear Costume Surf Contest Strange and weird phenomena tend to happen around this time of year, witches ride broomsticks high in the sky, pumpkins race downhill for prizes and zombies learn to surf. The Scare & Tear Surf Costume Contest returns Halloween morning, back from the primordial sludge of the sea. The contest is this Saturday October 31st and features a monster showdown between groms, creatures, longboarders, SUP folk, and anyone else who dare sign up. All participants must wear a disgustingly ghoulish costume and surf their brains out. more info

The City of Lomita Presents: Halloween Carnival & Costume Contest: Friday, October 30, 2014 – 6:00 – 8:00 PM Lomita Parks and Recreation Department host a costume contest and carnival Friday October 30th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lomita Park, 24428 Eshelman Avenue. Prize categories for the costume contest include Prettiest, Funniest, Most Original, Judge’s Pick, and Scariest. There will be game booths and a balloonist too. LA Waterfront Howl-O-Ween Pet Parade: Saturday, October 31, 2015 – 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM Who says Halloween is just for humans? Dress up your pet and enjoy treats and activity stations along the promenade. Costumes are encouraged, but not required. Parade route starts at Downtown Harbor in San Pedro, then along the Harbor Blvd. Parkway Promenade to the Fanfare Fountain. Pets should be leashed, caged, or otherwise restrained – no exceptions. Donated items will be accepted to benefit the Harbor Area Animal Shelter. A free community event brought to you by the Port of Los Angeles.

Trick or Treat in the Riviera Village: Friday, October 31, 2015 – 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Ghosts and goblins will mix with princesses and super heroes as Riviera Village hosts the annual Halloween Trick or Treat on Saturday, October 31. Catalina Ave. will be closed to traffic from Ave. I to Palos Verdes Blvd., and the shops will hand out candy and treats from 4 to 6 pm. more info

Halloween Carnival at Wilson Park: Friday, October 31, 2014 – 4:00 – 8:00 PM The City of Torrance Community Services Department invites the public to enjoy the annual Halloween Carnival on Friday, October 31, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wilson Park, 2200 Crenshaw Blvd. The Carnival is a safe, family friendly alternative to trick-or-treating and will feature games, crafts, a photo area, spooky music by DJ Ozzie and costume parade taking place at 6:30 p.m. Unlimited use wristbands are $9.00 per child and are required to participate in a variety of carnival activities that participants can win candy and prizes playing. Food trucks will be on site and available at an additional charge. The event will take place, rain or shine. Pets are not allowed at this event.

City of El Segundo Presents: Halloween Frolic : Saturday, October 31, 2014 – 4:00 – 7:00 PM The El Segundo Parks and Recreation Department host annual Halloween Frolic Friday October 31st 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the 300-400 block of Downtown Main Street. Compete in a pumpkin carving contest and enjoy music, crafts, jumpers, games and costume contests for boys and ghouls of all ages!

South Bay Scream Halloween Party: Saturday, October 31, 2015 – 9:00 PM The South Bay’s largest and best Halloween extravaganza is back, SOUTH BAY SCREAM! The South Bay’s most ghoulish fright night is back again this year at the Portofino Hotel in Redondo Beach on Halloween night, Saturday, Oct. 31st at 9pm.

Shade Hotel’s Halloween Carnival Bash: Saturday, October 31, 2015 – 7 p.m. Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach will transform into a creepy carnival scene again October 31st, for one of Los Angeles’ best Halloween bashes. The boutique hotel will be decorated with Halloween carnival-inspired decorations, and will feature an array of entertainment, including circus performers, a DJ, magician and more. Halloween with The Spazmatics at Saint Rocke: Saturday, October 31, 2014 – 9:00 PM – Close Party with your pants tucked up high and a stuffed pocket protector Halloween night at Saint Rocke when the the ’80s style, neard rock band, THE SPAZMATICS, take the stage around 9pm, come dressed in costume and get ready to join a lip synch battle. Samhain Ball at Phantom Carriage Brewery: Saturday, October 31st 2015, 7:00 PM – Midnight The Samhain Ball will feature an evil DJ spinning Halloween-inspired tunes, a three-course costume contest, live entertainment, haunted horror film screenings throughout the night both in the theater room and in the VIP cellar lounge… inside the South Bay’s scariest brewery, Phantom Carriage Brewery.
