South Bay Weekend: June Gloom, Movies on the Boardwalk, Fun Run for the Oceans, PV Street Fair & Music Fest, TAM, Hermosa Beach Fine Arts Fest

The gloom has settled in for another June month on the shores of the South Bay with an unexpected tar-like substance casting an even longer shadow on theses anticipated grey days. Even so, summer in the South Bay is an especially grand time to be outside, on the strand, in and around the water and watch the public ages two to ninety-two journey to the sand form Docckweiler Beach to Torrance Beach for a little summer excursion.

Tonight the Redondo Beach Pier Association welcomes the return of Movies on the Boardwalk at the Redondo Beach Pier starting at 8:00 p.m. It’s a free event that will feature movies every Friday evening throughout the month of June including Big Hero, Up, Earth to Echo and Dolphin Tale 2. Tonight’s free movie is “Big Hero”, bring a low-back beach chair and a blanket.

Below are a list of South Bay Evens happening this weekend.

Torrance Art Museum: Opening Reception of Forgetting the Future – Entropy in the Reflective Age: Saturday, June 06, 2015 – 6:00 – 9:00 PM Entropy is the inevitable and steady deterioration of a system or society. This exhibition examines new ideas of entropy in a technology-driven age. How is the collective experience of time altered with advances in technology and social media? As technology advances at an ever increasing pace, artists are faced with the inevitable decay of the current mode of production. Like Robert Smithson’s Hotel Palenque we see notion of “ruin in reverse,” a simultaneous decay and renovation.TAM is a program of the City of Torrance Cultural Services Division.
