South Bay Weekend: Sea Fair, Fortunate Youth, The Fab 4, El Segundo Smells Funny, Bite at the Beach, Sand Castles, IPA Fest & Armed Forces Day

The 8th annual King Harbor Sea Fair pushes off this Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. in an effort to educate the public about boating safety and provide an in-person platform for various local organizations that offer opportunities to enjoy and care for the ocean. Totally free and open to the public, the Sea Fair will take place in three locations: King Harbor Yacht Club, 280 Yacht Club Way; Redondo Beach Yacht Club, 210 Yacht Club Way; and the SEA Lab, 1021 N. Harbor Drive.

Festivity highlights include free sailboat and outrigger rides, two kid fun zones, a family sandcastle contest, stand up paddle boarding (SUP) and many static boat displays. Tour the tall ship “Irving Johnson” of the Los Angeles Maritime Institute, reservations are required. Free shuttle service by Our Town Trolley will be available all day from the AES power plant and the Redondo Beach Marina parking lots. www.khbf.org/seafair2015

Manhattan Beach Chamber Presents: 2nd Annual Bite at the Beach : Saturday, May 16, 2015 – 3:00 – 6:00 PMThe Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce presents the second annual Bite at the Beach featuring decadent food and craft beer pairings from throughout the South Bay and Los Angeles. This will be an extraordinary evening filled with delicious bites, craft beer and wine, as well as a live musical performance with a portion of the proceeds donated to charity. Naja’s Place 7th Week-Long IPA Festival Starts Wednesday Top-side near the King Harbor Marina corner of the Redondo Pier swells with loud music and hoppy beers this weekend as Naja’s Place brings it’s bitter-faced IPA Festival back for another round. Featuring hop-forward beers available all week for a premium price, many kegs are tapped for special release or even new release. The City of Torrance Presents its 56th Annual Armed Forces Day Celebration all Weekend Beginning May 15 through Sunday, May 17, 2015, the City of Torrance will pay tribute to the nation’s Armed Forces with its 56th Annual Armed Forces Day Celebration and Parade – the City’s longest standing tradition. Each year, the City honors a different military branch; this year highlights the United States Coast Guard. Grand Marshal Rear Admiral Joseph Servidio,Commander, Eleventh Coast Guard District, will lead the Parade on Saturday, May 16, 2015, that will begin at 1:30 p.m. more info
