Tucked in a south Torrance neighborhood is one of the most spectacular display of Christmas lights in the South Bay. It’s a neighborhood tradition where folks can walk or drive through to get in the holiday spirit. Sleepy Hollow Christmas Lights is located on Roberts Rd. off Pacific Cost Highway. SHCL is on display from 6-10 p.m. every night until the evening of New Year’s Day. Walking offers a much more relaxed, up-close view of all the displays, without worrying about holding up the cars behind you.
Skip the traffic by parking on Pacific Coast Highway, Calle Mayor or Prospect, and walk to Roberts Road, just west of Calle Mayor. If you want to take photos, a walking tour is a must.
If you do make a tour of SHCL this year, be patient and courteous as crowds and congestion during viewing hours have grown substantially in the last couple years. Frustrations about traffic issues from neighborhood residents have gone public at a recent community meeting according to the Daily Breeze. Hopefully the city of Torrance and the Sleepy Hollow neighborhood (also known as Candy Cane Lane) can mediate a solution in the near future so the joy of the event lives on.
