The Grunion are coming! For those not familiar, Grunion is a species of fish that flops onto the beaches throughout Southern California each year in a primitive ritual of spawning. This silver fish phenomenon is about to hit the beaches of the South Bay officially on March 7th when the season begins. There are some secret spots in Hermosa Beach to watch this biological wonderment but if you prefer the guided hand of experts, hook up with the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium as they offer special evening programs for Grunion Runs. Please be aware that the during March, June and July the Grunion may only be collected by someone holding a California Fishing License.

Mother Nature has played havoc all year for the South Bay Boardriders Club and their surf competition series. The high winds anticipated for this Saturday have forced the club to postpone this weekend’s “Event #2” sponsored by E.T. Surf Shop for another date and time.
