Village Runner’s 20th 4th of July 5k

There are many 4th of July traditions that have taken root here in the South Bay. You can test your drinking mettle by running, then paddling and lastly slurping down a domestic six pack of light beer. The contest has eloquently been dubbed the Ironman. Other traditions like dressing up in red, white, and blue regalia then meandering down the strand on a beach cruiser also speak to the core of celebrating the 4th in the South Bay. A more conservative and healthier way to kick off America”s independence is the he 20th annual Village Runner 4th of July 5K Run/Community Walk, and Firecracker Dash for Kids that kicks off at 8:00 a.m. The 3.1 mile race starts and ends at the Village Runner in Redondo Beach”s Riviera Village and for the most part is probably one of the more easier 5ks around. It”s become a popular event and this year there will be a pre-event party, a post-event celebration, and prizes.

Registration is open and will costs adults $30 until June 27th while registration fees for kids is $25 through June 27th as well. Costs will increase for both kids and adults after 6/27. To find out more about Village Runner”s 4th of July 5k, visit their website.
