Summertime and live music go hand in hand here in the South Bay, and this year all of the Beach Cities are offering a full music calendar! Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and El Segundo each have an independent concert series of their own. Each city offers their 2016 concerts for FREE. You can choose between a Neil Diamond cover band, Hawaiian ukuleles or anything in between. concerts

Shakespeare by the Sea Presents: Othello: Friday, July 8, 2016 – Saturday, July 9, 2016 – 8:00 PM Southern California audiences have come to love Shakespeare by the Sea for its professionally-crafted productions of Shakespeare’s timeless plays, presented completely free of admission at dozens of local parks each summer. SBTS is in its 19th season and will enact a live performance of Othello, where gossip turns friendships rancid, and rumor brutally murders innocence, Friday & Saturday night at Point Fermin Park in San Pedro. All shows are ADMISSION FREE for audience members (donations are appreciated). Point Fermin Park is located at 807 W Paseo del Mar, San Pedro, California 90731. www.shakespearebythesea.org

Career Development Series at TAM – A Deeper Dive: Saturday, July 9, 2016 – 1:30 – 3:00 PM Join Roni Ramos, professional photographer and founder of Harmony 3 Productions, in a workshop designed to help train artists use photography and video to showcase and market their art practices. Building upon the practices discussed at her last workshop at Torrance Art Museum, Roni will share the techniques and training to photograph and video art works in order to best share them in digital spaces. Middle Eastern Dance with Karin Jensen & Mandala Danceworks: Saturday July 9, 2016 – 8:00 PM An Evening of Middle Eastern Dance with Karin Jensen and Mandala DanceWorks return to the El Camino College’s Marsee Auditorium. Indulge in a sensory experience with a variety of ethnic dance forms ranging from the traditional to the avant garde. Bridge USA Summer Festival at Torrance Cultural Arts Center: Sunday, July 10, 2016 – 10:00 AM – 7:00 PMPut on your best kimono and join this celebration of Japanese culture, where there will be dancing, martial arts demonstrations, food, music and a traditional Mikoshi parade. The festival will feature over sixty booths filled with food, kimonos, and souvenirs too. Admission is $6 for adults, $3 for children under 12 and seniors are free. Torrance Cultural Arts Center is located at 3330 Civic Center Drive.

El Segundo Summer Concerts In The Park: Sunday, July 10, 2016 – 4:00 PM Located at Library Park on Main Street in El Segundo, the concert series runs on selected Sundays throughout the summer. Local food truck vendors will be serving up some eats during the concerts. No glass containers are permitted and please leave the pets at home. This Sunday Credence Clearwater Revival tribute band Tombstone Shadow Revival takes center stage. For more information, call 310 524-2700

Manhattan Beach Concerts in the Park: Sunday, July 10, 2016 – 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Manhattan Beach free summer concerts at Polliwog Park make their seasonal return this Sunday when the South Bay Country Band brings a little country twang to the beach cities. The venue is Polliwog Park’s amphitheater (1601 Manhattan Beach Blvd Manhattan Beach, CA 90266) and the free concerts run from the first weekend in July through Labor Day weekend. These performances are open seating and free to the public, concerts but try and get their early with beach chairs and snacks.

Creating a Brave New World at Warner Grand Theatre: Sunday, July 10, 2016 – 5:30 PM International performer and TEDx speaker Daniel Tyler Pohnke spent seven years traveling through India, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Europe to gather material for this interactive theater experience. Creating a Brave New World fuses cross-cultural music, dance and multimedia with self-development techniques designed to inspire, empower and uplift audiences. Strunz and Farah at Saint Rocke: Sunday, July 10, 2016 – 6:00 PM – 2:00 AM From Costa Rica and Iran respectively, Jorge Strunz and Ardeshir Farah have brought the cultural riches of their native lands to their highly virtuosic, rhythmic, and improvisation-rich original instrumental compositions, profoundly influencing guitarists everywhere. Exotic Spanish rhythms from a pair of Flamenco guitars perform live at Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach Sunday night. tickets

Shakespeare by the Sea Presents: Cymbeline : Sunday, July 10, 2016 – 7:00 PM Southern California audiences have come to love Shakespeare by the Sea for its professionally-crafted productions of Shakespeare’s timeless plays, presented completely free of admission at dozens of local parks each summer. SBTS is in its 19th season and will enact a live performance of Cymbeline, where Shakespeare tells an epic romantic tale filled with magical potions, dastardly villains, ghosts, gods and lost princes Sunday night at Hess Park in Rancho Palos Verdes. All shows are ADMISSION FREE for audience members (donations are appreciated). Point Fermin Park is located at 29301 Hawthorne Blvd, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. www.shakespearebythesea.org
