California Love, not the remix by Tupac Shakur, marks another seasonal bottle release from Torrance’s Smog City Brewery this weekend. Its specific release date of September 9th pays homage to the birth of California as a state and the ingredients help integrate two imagined communities with polar identities and feuding boundary lines: Southern California & Northern California. Brewed with citrus peel (SoCal) and a some Pinot Noir grape must (NorCal), California Love is a complex mix of hops, fruit, oak and an aroma that smells uniquely Californian. It’s currently available for elbow bending at Smog City in growler, draft and bottle format.
